For our larger trips in the past, we would call a travel agent to help with our travel arrangements. I was uncomfortable being responsible for doing all the research, deciding where to stay, booking our stay, and booking transportation. This Bahamas family all-inclusive was our first trip where we incorporated some travel hacking, but as you’ll see, we didn’t hack the entire trip. I also didn’t keep the best records, but hopefully, this encourages you to begin yourself!
Location: Chicago, IL to Nassau, Bahamas
Travelers: 4 Adults and 1 lap-child
Length: 8 days, 7 nights
Flights: AA – 116,400 UR ($1,746.04)
Lodging and transportation: $4,628.07

Inside the travel agents package it had listed our flight details with the associated cost. I logged into the Chase portal to check if the same flights were available, and sure enough, they were! I booked the flights using my Chase Sapphire Reserve. The redemption rate was 1.5cpp (cent per point).
Where we stayed
We stayed at the Meliá Nassau Beach All Inclusive. For our first family trip, I can’t say enough good things about this trip. The food was amazing and the views were breathtaking.

Having an infant along with us limited the excursions we could do, but we left the resort a couple times. Local transportation was safe for the family, so one day we took the bus downtown to visit the shops. Another day we went to Baha Mar since it was nearby. We walked over for our own tour of the resort and spent some time in the casino until we got kicked off the floor for having a baby. We also did a glass bottom boat tour that included snorkeling where we were able to see sea turtles!

Our Bahamas family all-inclusive trip was our first execution of some travel rewards!
