Before the doctor told us we couldn’t travel anymore, we made one last trip to Florida for Easter. Due to some mystery shopping along the way, it ended up being a moneymaker for us!
Location: Chicago, IL to Orlando, FL
Travelers: 2 Adults and 1 lap child
Length: 6 days, 5 nights
Flights: SW – 23,174 RR points
Lodging and transportation: ~$120 for rideshares to/from airport and stayed with family
Simple trip away
So we started this trip with a mystery shop on the flight and a mystery shop at the airport upon arrival. All in all, it took about 30 minutes of time and netted us $100. We stayed with Family so that allowed us to not spend anything on lodging.
For one of our days, we planned a trip to Universal Citywalk. While there, my wife and I both completed a mystery shop that paid $75 each. The total time for this shop was about 20 minutes. Using the profits, we enjoyed an amazing dinner at The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen.
Another fun event was a day at SeaWorld. If you didn’t already know, you can easily book SeaWorld tickets on the Chase rewards portal. One of my favorite things at SeaWorld is the meal pass. Its price at the time was like $37. For an extra $10 you can add on an alcoholic drink to each visit too! You’re able to visit a number of locations throughout the park and get a full meal and a drink once every hour. These meals don’t feed just one person. We usually feed three adults and a child using one of these passes and we’re all full before the end of the day. It’s such a great deal.
On our travels home, we completed the same two mystery shops as on the way there. So for another 30 minutes’ time, we made $100.
All in all, we made about $350 from our mystery shops and our total spend on the trip was about $340. For 6 days away in Florida, I can’t complain about coming home $10 richer.
